What a Little Man He Is

Being the horrible blogging mommy that I am (not a horrible mommy just a horrible blogger keeper upper) it has been FOREVER since I have posted anything. In my defense, the cable and thing-a-ma-doober that I need to upload pictures is gone (and I think my son may have relocated it for me but I have no proof!)

Here are a few of his 18 month pictures (which were on a disk and i didn't need the thing-a-ma-doober to upload them). Enjoy!!

He's growing so fast and we are so blessed to be able to call him our son!

The Best Anniversary Present

Ryan and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on March 19, 2008. Being that it was a Thursday night, we headed to Lifegroup as usual. While everyone was visiting before the Bible study began David stood up (which he'd been able to do for quite some time) and took several steps into the center of the living room. We were all shocked and amazed. To be sure it wasn't a fluke, we "reset" David and he did it again. So many thoughts were running through my head - it's too soon....he' isn't even one yet....we aren't finished baby proofing the house! But after seeing the smile on David's face after accomplishing such a task I couldn't help but be proud of him. Of course I didn't have my camera with me that night (silly mommy!)

Urgent Care

The weekend of March 6-8 was a new "scary" adventure for us. David wasn't feeling well, which consisted of a lot of throwing up on Mommy (yeah for clean laundry!) Ryan was running sound at church on Sunday, but David and I decided to stay home, in large part to help keep the nursery workers clean. David slept, didn't pee, and threw up on Mommy again....so we called the doctor who told us to head to the emergency room. We called Ryan on the way and after a little while we found out that David had a doozie of a double ear infection. Poor guy! After some meds and more Pedialyte he finally started feeling a little better. Last time David had an ear infection he got teeth - we keep checking every day but so far nothing!

New Orleans

Aunt Kayla is getting married to future Uncle Scott at the end of June, so David and Mommy packed up and headed to New Orleans at the end of February for a bridal shower in Kayla's honor.

Nana and Papaw were so excited to get to see David again (and if you live anywhere near Nana you know that "excited" is an understatement). We had lots of fun visiting with Aunt Kayla, Nana and Papaw. Aunt Jess even got to fly in from Nashville! Nana really liked the handprint/footprint tile that we made at Granny's, so we made one for David. It was absolutely hilarious to see how many adults it took to get one kids footprint or handprint on a tile. At one point four of us were involved - between putting on the paint, putting his hand on the tile, holding David, taking pictures and keeping his other painted appendages from touching anything else - I'm not sure that we could have done it any differently. This was an early morning adventure - so of course no one looked decent enough to post a picture, but here's a pic of what we accomplished.

Saturday morning David was really busy. Besides the art project David got to spend time with Sadie. Nana didn't want David going outside where Sadie could run him over, so they decided to have the meet and greet at the window. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more - David or Sadie! She kept coming back to that window for the rest of the weekend, but so did David!

David also likes to move shoes from place to place. Here he is playing with Papaw's shoes.

In the afternoon we headed over to Aunt Joey's "new" house for Kayla's shower. Stacey, Stacy, Aunt Joey and Mamaw did a great job putting things together.

David loves tissue paper. So he was more than happy to help Aunt Kayla with her presents.

Eventually we had to figure out another way to entertain him. Anyone up for a game of "Where's David?"

On Sunday we went to White Oak in Baton Rouge where the wedding will take place. We had a great time tasting all the yummy food and sampling cake. David really liked the pastry shells and the cake (but mostly the icing).

David and I had such a great time in New Orleans. He did great on the plane both ways, which was a relief because this was the first time we flew just the two of us. We can't wait to come back for the wedding!

Daddy's Birthday

This year Ryan turned the big "30" and of course we had to celebrate with steak! Aunt Courtney drove up and we all hung out. David had fun practicing walking with Grammie and he even got his first lesson in grilling steaks!

Valentine's Day

We had a nice, lazy day for Valentine's this year. David let us sleep in.....which is usually about 7:30 AM at the latest! Grammie and Grampa came over and we went to lunch and then came home and played. David showed off how he loves to walk with his gift from Mrs. Peggy! It was a fun, low-key day. Next year we might try to be festive and wear red (not pink!)

Hockey Game

On February 13, Kristin, Dylan and Brooklyn Thompson invited us to join them at the Dallas Stars hockey game. It was David's first hockey game ever (and the first Stars game for Ryan and myself). We met them at the American Airlines Center and went inside to enjoy the fun. David really enjoyed looking around at everything. David really didn't like it when the Stars scored a goal because the horns would blow and the crowd got really loud (the tears came out then). Kristin and I took the kids for a walk and missed the only good game fight (no fun!) Brooklyn even let me hold her while Kristin went to the bathroom (this was a momentous occasion); although it took a lot of "pretty girls" to calm her down right after her momma walked off. We had such a great time that we'll have to go to the hockey game again sometime.

Things Mommy Forgot To Take Pictures Of

So Mindi has really got to get better about taking pictures when David goes to things.

On February 2, David went to his first play. Mindi's school was putting on "Seussical the Musical" and she had several students with lead parts. So we decided to take David to the play.

Mindi and David stopped at home to change clothes/diaper and pick up David's dinner. She should have gone home before she picked David up! Around this time David had taken to flinging himself forward in order to get places or when he didn't get his way. Mommy wasn't thinking of this when she set David on her big bed so she could change clothes. I'm sure you can see this coming. David did his own impersonation of Superman (minus the cape). Needless to say it wasn't a pretty landing. Although he didn't get hurt, he did cry for about 10 minutes. Glad there's no picture proof of that!

Once we got to the play David did fantastic. He loved the music and the bright colors of the set and the costumes. He clapped with the audience and even sang along with the cast a time or two. He also flirted with the lady behind us (who happened to be the parent of one of Mindi's students). After the play was over David gave the Cat in the Hat (Drew from 5th period) a high five. It was really a low five, but it was still cute. David did so good, we'll see if next years musical goes as well.

On February 8th David went to a birthday party for our friend Will Hale (he turned one). David got to play with Will, Gracelynn, and some other kids whose names we can't remember. Will loved eating his birthday cake and opening presents. Hopefully David will have as much fun at his 1st birthday.

Super Bowl Sunday

For Super Bowl Sunday our Lifegroup got together at Sarah, Mike & Logan McKee's house to watch the game. Everybody had a great time watching the game and the boys (David, Logan and Canaan) spent a lot of time playing. The mommies didn't really get to watch the game or most of the commercials. Oh well!

David's First Rodeo

Every year the Walker family goes to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo at least once. Ryan and Mindi's second date was to the rodeo finals back in 2004, so we really enjoy this annual tradition. This year was David's first time to go to the rodeo (1/31). When we got up David started out his day by checking out his toy car.

We got to the rodeo early and walked around looking at all the animals.

Aunt Courtney, David, Grampa, and the biggest bull ever!
David really enjoyed looking at all the animals. He got to see:

Baby chicks
Rabbits
I think it's a goat, but it could be a sheep
Roosters
Pigs!

Next year we will have to try the petting zoo. David did great during the Grand Entry. He clapped for the horses and riders as they went past and he flirted with the people sitting around us. When the band plays the Star Spangled Banner we know that they will have pyrotechnics explode and we were worried that David would get upset with the explosions. They didn't phase him at all - what a trooper!

The rodeo started at 7:30 PM and David was asleep by 8:15 PM, although he did wake up in time for the bull riding. Can't wait to see how he likes next year's rodeo!
