How Time Flies

It seems like just yesterday that David was born, but in reallity he turned three months old this past Wednesday. I can't seem to remember not having him around, although I can definitely remember (fondly) nights of uninterrupted sleep:) To celebrate we went to have his picture taken on Friday. David's adopted Aunt Danielle came with us (she's way more decisive than I am). Would you believe that on the less than 2 minute ride from her house to the picture place David fell asleep? Go figure. But we got some cute shots of that too. Here are a few pics of our "Big Boy".

Great Wolf Lodge

This past weekend (July 18-20) Mimi (Aunt Carolyn), Jodi, Janet, Mick and Mason came to Grapevine to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. It is the neatest place! They have indoor and outdoor waterslides and you can get a themed room. They stayed in a "Kids Kabin" and it looked like a log cabin was built into part of the room - bunk beds, bears and everything. Here's a picture of Mason, David and Mick from their cabin window.

Friday night David and I took Janet and Jodi to Sam Moon and IKEA. I wish we had had the camera to capture the look on Janet's face when we walked into those stores. Needless to say we had a great time.

On Saturday, we met up with everybody to enjoy the waterpark together. Of course David didn't get to swim - maybe next time. The water slides were so much fun. You sit in a tube or raft on all of them and my personal favorite was the Tornado (even better at night cause you can't see much of anything!). The boys (Ryan included) had lots of fun playing in the wavepool and going down the slides. Here's Mick and Ryan in the wavepool.
On Sunday we went back for Round 2 in the waterpark. I held out on joining in the fun until after dinner because we had two tired little boys on our hands. (I enjoyed a nap too!)

We had such a good time spending time with everybody this weekend - Thanks Mimi!!!!!! Can't wait for you to come back next year so we can do it again!

4th of July

We left Nana and Papaw's house on July 1st and headed north to West Monroe to see Granny and the rest of the crew. David did great on the 5+ hour road trip. Slept most of the way. Nana and I were grateful. Then we had Granny all to ourselves for a few days before Papaw, Ryan, Aunt Jess & Uncle Rob arrived.

David got to meet his cousins Mick and Mason. They were very excited to see him. Mick couldn't wait to hold his new cousin and Mason just wanted to "love the baby".

On the 4th we hung out at Granny's, had a cookout and played Ladderball (Papaw's early birthday present).

Papaw's birthday was on the 5th and we headed down to Caney Lake to Mimi and Pop-pop's camp. Uncle Bud, Aunt Claudine, Margaret, and Mary Lou came down and spent the day with us too. We had a fish fry and played in the lake. David and I decided to sit this one out and that we'd go in the lake next year and leave the floatin' and skiin' to the big kids this trip. It was so much fun spending the day with everybody.

Even on the 5+ hour road trip back home David was good. He was awake, laughing, and talking most of the time (at least he wasn't crying). It was a long time to be away from home, but we had a great time visiting everyone!

Jam Packed June

June was a very busy month for us. David and I went and packed up my classroom for the summer (hope I can find things in the fall!). We went to a cookout with my teacher friends, had gamenight with our lifegroup (I think he only spit up on 3 people that night), and spent time with our friends Brooklyn and Kristen.

We also celebrated Grampa and Aunt Courtney's birthdays and Father's Day! On Father's Day we went to church at Southcliff and celebrated "Jeans and Jerseys" day. Aunt Courtney bought us all team jerseys to wear. Former NFL player Daryl Jones was a guest speaker (we missed hearing him speak - David was hungry). Then there was a cookout after church and we got to hang out with Daryl and his wife - ate some burgers, had conversation, hotter than all get out, but we had a great time.

David got his first set of shots this month. Three needle sticks. He screamed of course, but calmed down pretty quickly.

Next was a big milestone in David's life.........his first road trip which included his first airplane ride to New Orleans! David did absolutely fabulous on the plane. He ate as we got on the plane and then went to sleep after a diaper change (kinda tricky to change a diaper while stuck in your seat on a plane - definitely requires 2 people). David slept through the take-off, flight, and landing. People were commenting that they didn't even know there was a little baby on the plane as they got off.

Nana was (impatiently) waiting for us as we came out of the terminal. She had already talked to the flight attendants and her camera was ready to commence picture taking (I don't think the camera got a break the entire time we were there!) After picking up all the luggage, we piled in the car and headed to see Mum (formerly Mamaw). Boy did David make a haul when we got there! Between the hugs, kisses, and outfits (plus a new diaper) - David was a happy little boy with an even happier Nana and Mums!

And that was just the beginning! David got to meet so many people and do so many things while we were in Louisiana - please don't be offended if he doesn't remember you next time we see you :)

We helped Nana find a place for Aunt Kayla to marry soon to be Uncle Scott. It's gorgeous! We'll be back in LA for their June 27, 2009 wedding at White Oak Plantation. Can't wait (and I know they can't either).

Nana and Papaw got to babysit while Ryan and I went to Hattiesburg for my friend Paul Langham's wedding. Paul and Leslie came to our wedding and we were glad to be there on their special day.

Nana and Papaw took David to church and got to show him off. Then we had a bbq with the Laundry's and David got to meet Aunt Joey (again) and Uncle Lonnie, Steven & Stacy, Jon & Stacey, and Nanny. We ate good and had fun just being together!

David met so many friends: Mrs. Pam, David & Chloe Bordes (and their parents Shannon and Dave); Nancy, Bradley & Dylan Michelli; Charlena; Beth & Evan Vinyard; Nancy, Logan, Grady & Ben Brechtel, Mrs. Margie, Mrs. Susan, Mrs. Jackie....and the list goes on and on. Here's a great smiling picture with my college roommate Charlena.

Ryan only got to stay for a week and he went to work with Papaw several days, so it wasn't much of a vacation for him. But he had fun anyway - busting Papaw's fingers and all!

May Madness

So I haven't been great at posting to the blog just yet, but I'm working on it. Life can be so busy with a new little one, but I've finally figured out how to get a shower (most days). So here's what we've been up to.....

May was a very busy month for David. There were so many people to meet and zillions of pictures to be taken. David was able to meet Papaw (Mindi's dad), Aunt Kayla and soon to be Uncle Scott, Aunt Jess and Uncle Rob, Granny, Aunt Carolyn, Aunt Tamra and Uncle Jay, and Aunt Joey. Of course he had already been introduced to Grammie, Grampa, Nana and Aunt Courtney by this time. There were also lots of friends that came by to see him and bring us dinner - that was sooooooooo wonderful!!

Here's David and his friend Logan McKee. Logan is 2 weeks older than David and he is the son of Mike and Sarah McKee. Ryan and Mike have been best friends forever. (for some reason I can't get the picture to save any bigger)

I think David did get a little tired of having his picture taken, but he's just so darn cute!!!

I had a really nice first mother's day. David got me a bracelet and charm of a mom and baby from James Avery. Ryan said that David picked it out all by himself.

We had a couple doctor's appointments this month (mostly for weight checks) and towards the end of the month David was up to 10 lbs.

Ryan's company, Electro Acoustics, even put David on their website. Check it out at www.eavi.com and click on "Meet EA's newest family member"

David had pictures taken when he turned one month old. Here are a few of my favorites.

Our "big" event for May was a shower at Southcliff Baptist Church where David got to meet lots of friends of Grammie and Grampa. The theme was John Deere tractors, so of course Ryan loved it (he's also jealous that David has more tractor stuff than he does). David has lots of outfits and toys to grow into - he's going to be one stylish kid! He did so good meeting everybody and was so alert the whole time. All in all it was a great day!

All in all it was a really busy month, but we enjoyed every second of it.
