Hockey Game

On February 13, Kristin, Dylan and Brooklyn Thompson invited us to join them at the Dallas Stars hockey game. It was David's first hockey game ever (and the first Stars game for Ryan and myself). We met them at the American Airlines Center and went inside to enjoy the fun. David really enjoyed looking around at everything. David really didn't like it when the Stars scored a goal because the horns would blow and the crowd got really loud (the tears came out then). Kristin and I took the kids for a walk and missed the only good game fight (no fun!) Brooklyn even let me hold her while Kristin went to the bathroom (this was a momentous occasion); although it took a lot of "pretty girls" to calm her down right after her momma walked off. We had such a great time that we'll have to go to the hockey game again sometime.

Things Mommy Forgot To Take Pictures Of

So Mindi has really got to get better about taking pictures when David goes to things.

On February 2, David went to his first play. Mindi's school was putting on "Seussical the Musical" and she had several students with lead parts. So we decided to take David to the play.

Mindi and David stopped at home to change clothes/diaper and pick up David's dinner. She should have gone home before she picked David up! Around this time David had taken to flinging himself forward in order to get places or when he didn't get his way. Mommy wasn't thinking of this when she set David on her big bed so she could change clothes. I'm sure you can see this coming. David did his own impersonation of Superman (minus the cape). Needless to say it wasn't a pretty landing. Although he didn't get hurt, he did cry for about 10 minutes. Glad there's no picture proof of that!

Once we got to the play David did fantastic. He loved the music and the bright colors of the set and the costumes. He clapped with the audience and even sang along with the cast a time or two. He also flirted with the lady behind us (who happened to be the parent of one of Mindi's students). After the play was over David gave the Cat in the Hat (Drew from 5th period) a high five. It was really a low five, but it was still cute. David did so good, we'll see if next years musical goes as well.

On February 8th David went to a birthday party for our friend Will Hale (he turned one). David got to play with Will, Gracelynn, and some other kids whose names we can't remember. Will loved eating his birthday cake and opening presents. Hopefully David will have as much fun at his 1st birthday.

Super Bowl Sunday

For Super Bowl Sunday our Lifegroup got together at Sarah, Mike & Logan McKee's house to watch the game. Everybody had a great time watching the game and the boys (David, Logan and Canaan) spent a lot of time playing. The mommies didn't really get to watch the game or most of the commercials. Oh well!

David's First Rodeo

Every year the Walker family goes to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo at least once. Ryan and Mindi's second date was to the rodeo finals back in 2004, so we really enjoy this annual tradition. This year was David's first time to go to the rodeo (1/31). When we got up David started out his day by checking out his toy car.

We got to the rodeo early and walked around looking at all the animals.

Aunt Courtney, David, Grampa, and the biggest bull ever!
David really enjoyed looking at all the animals. He got to see:

Baby chicks
Rabbits
I think it's a goat, but it could be a sheep
Roosters
Pigs!

Next year we will have to try the petting zoo. David did great during the Grand Entry. He clapped for the horses and riders as they went past and he flirted with the people sitting around us. When the band plays the Star Spangled Banner we know that they will have pyrotechnics explode and we were worried that David would get upset with the explosions. They didn't phase him at all - what a trooper!

The rodeo started at 7:30 PM and David was asleep by 8:15 PM, although he did wake up in time for the bull riding. Can't wait to see how he likes next year's rodeo!

Snow Day

On January 28 we were having some crazy weather....so they cancelled school (and Mommy convinced Daddy to stay home) and we had a snow day together! It was more like a nasty, cold, ice day but who cares. So Ryan and I decided to put together David's two ride on toys to see how he did. He loved them!

David wasn't too sure about the ride/push toy from Mrs. Peggy.

It's got parts to play with!

Mrs. Robin bought David his first tractor.

Who thinks my tractor's sexy?

We had a good time staying home and spending the day together. Now I see why my students get so excited about snow days!

Riding the Towncar

Before David was born, Grammie and Grampa received a very special gift for him. "Big John" (Harris) from Southcliff made David a "towncar" to ride on when he got bigger. Well that time has finally come! Here are a few pics of David and his first ride. I'm sure as his legs get longer (and he can balance himself better) that he will really love riding it.

Gotta work on those driving skills!

Jay, Tamra & Jesse Visit

The weekend of Jan 23 Jay, Tamra, and Jesse drove down from OK to visit everybody (David). We went and ate dinner at UNO's on Friday night.

Saturday we hung out at Grammie and Grampa's and then we went to lunch at Babe's in Burleson. David loved it. He ate biscuits, mashed potatoes, and smoked chicken. And all that was AFTER he ate his lunch! What a piggy! Silly mommy didn't take any pictures at Babe's (or the rest of the weekend). Gotta work on that.

Going to Granny's

The weekend of 1/16-18/08 we took a road trip to Granny's house in West Monroe, LA. David did well on the five hour car ride there (slept most of the time). The ride back didn't go as well, but we won't get into that. While we were there we had a great time. David had another Christmas, we met our new cousin Mallory, and played with the boys. It's so much fun visiting with everybody.

Our new cousin Mallory. Isn't she a cutie!

Nana brought David a surprise....Mardi Gras!

What's in the corner? Is that David's very own King Cake? Why, yes it is!
Yummy!

Climbing on Papaw (Mick, Mason, and David)

Jeremy and Janet came up with an art project present for Granny. They got a tile and had all the great grandkids put their painted handprint and footprint on it to make a garden. They were just waiting on David. So here he is adding to the artwork.

The finished product.

David was introduced to the Dowdy tradition of "swinging". He started out in a blanket, and loved it! As he gets older I'm sure he will follow in the footsteps of his mom and aunts; he'll lay on the floor and raise his arms and legs in the air (this is the international gesture for "swing me").

Granny saved a pair of overalls that Papaw (Mindi's daddy) wore when he was a kid. Here's David wearing Papaw's overalls.

Walking in the leaves

Mindi saw a picture of a little boy wearing overalls and hanging from a clothesline. She thought it would be cute to do her own version on Granny's clothesline. Not anything like the picture she saw, but it's cute!

Bumps and Bruises

After New Years David was moved up to the Infants II class at school. He's loved having more space to crawl around in. His friends are more mobile and the toys are too!

One day, David was crawling so fast that he lost control and ran into a toy truck. The teachers were great and gave him ice and hugs to help him get over his "injury". They filled out an official accident report that I had to sign when I picked him up. Here's another "first" for the scrapbook.

If you look real close you can see a faint line over his right eye.

The next day he got tooth #2 (bottom center). He doesn't like to show it off so no pictures. Sorry!

Meeting Baby Bullock

Ryan's best friend Josh and his wife Erin were able to come in town after the holidays. They are both in the Air Force and are stationed in New Jersey, so we don't get to see them much. Josh's family put on a baby shower for Baby Chloe (who will be making an appearance in a few months). David had fun playing with his buddy Logan and making friends with Josh's nephews, Nate and Noah.

Our favorite party game of the evening was when the dads blew up balloons and had a contest to see who could diaper their "baby" the fastest. Of course the dads did better then the father-to-be (Josh), but not by too much. Josh's got some time to practice before she gets here!

New Years Eve

We hung out with our friends Kristin, Dylan and Brooklyn Thompson for New Years Eve. Mommy and Daddy played Rock Band for the first time. It was awful and so much fun at the same time. David and Brooklyn got to hang out.

Kristin and the kids in the castle.
Brooklyn was great about sharing her toys with David (and her mom).

David had his first sleepover at a friend's house and his first big boy bath (and it was with a girl too)!

Once we got home David had the most fun crawling around with his sock in his mouth. Who needs a dog when you've got this!
