The Day After

The day after Thanksgiving Grammie, Grampa, Aunt Courtney, David, Mommy and Daddy had a great time at the Fort Worth Zoo.

Thanksgiving 2009

This year was our year to be in Fort Worth for Thanksgiving, so we all loaded up and headed to Grammie and Grampa's house. The day was off to a good start.....turkey in the oven...the fixin's were getting fixed....then the power went out! Dinner prep came to a screeching halt and the neighborhood poured outside to see what was up. Eventually we figured out that some main power station had some part that caught fire and it was blackened! We were fixing to put the turkey on the grill and then decided instead to load up dinner and take it up the street to the church where Grampa works and cook there. We weren't the only ones to come up with that plan because we saw the preacher and his family in the kitchen too! Even though it was not the traditional Thanksgiving sit down dinner it turned out to be a great day. David even had the run of the playground and boy did we make use of that after dinner. See for yourself.

What a Little Man He Is

Being the horrible blogging mommy that I am (not a horrible mommy just a horrible blogger keeper upper) it has been FOREVER since I have posted anything. In my defense, the cable and thing-a-ma-doober that I need to upload pictures is gone (and I think my son may have relocated it for me but I have no proof!)

Here are a few of his 18 month pictures (which were on a disk and i didn't need the thing-a-ma-doober to upload them). Enjoy!!

He's growing so fast and we are so blessed to be able to call him our son!

The Best Anniversary Present

Ryan and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on March 19, 2008. Being that it was a Thursday night, we headed to Lifegroup as usual. While everyone was visiting before the Bible study began David stood up (which he'd been able to do for quite some time) and took several steps into the center of the living room. We were all shocked and amazed. To be sure it wasn't a fluke, we "reset" David and he did it again. So many thoughts were running through my head - it's too soon....he' isn't even one yet....we aren't finished baby proofing the house! But after seeing the smile on David's face after accomplishing such a task I couldn't help but be proud of him. Of course I didn't have my camera with me that night (silly mommy!)

Urgent Care

The weekend of March 6-8 was a new "scary" adventure for us. David wasn't feeling well, which consisted of a lot of throwing up on Mommy (yeah for clean laundry!) Ryan was running sound at church on Sunday, but David and I decided to stay home, in large part to help keep the nursery workers clean. David slept, didn't pee, and threw up on Mommy again....so we called the doctor who told us to head to the emergency room. We called Ryan on the way and after a little while we found out that David had a doozie of a double ear infection. Poor guy! After some meds and more Pedialyte he finally started feeling a little better. Last time David had an ear infection he got teeth - we keep checking every day but so far nothing!

New Orleans

Aunt Kayla is getting married to future Uncle Scott at the end of June, so David and Mommy packed up and headed to New Orleans at the end of February for a bridal shower in Kayla's honor.

Nana and Papaw were so excited to get to see David again (and if you live anywhere near Nana you know that "excited" is an understatement). We had lots of fun visiting with Aunt Kayla, Nana and Papaw. Aunt Jess even got to fly in from Nashville! Nana really liked the handprint/footprint tile that we made at Granny's, so we made one for David. It was absolutely hilarious to see how many adults it took to get one kids footprint or handprint on a tile. At one point four of us were involved - between putting on the paint, putting his hand on the tile, holding David, taking pictures and keeping his other painted appendages from touching anything else - I'm not sure that we could have done it any differently. This was an early morning adventure - so of course no one looked decent enough to post a picture, but here's a pic of what we accomplished.

Saturday morning David was really busy. Besides the art project David got to spend time with Sadie. Nana didn't want David going outside where Sadie could run him over, so they decided to have the meet and greet at the window. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more - David or Sadie! She kept coming back to that window for the rest of the weekend, but so did David!

David also likes to move shoes from place to place. Here he is playing with Papaw's shoes.

In the afternoon we headed over to Aunt Joey's "new" house for Kayla's shower. Stacey, Stacy, Aunt Joey and Mamaw did a great job putting things together.

David loves tissue paper. So he was more than happy to help Aunt Kayla with her presents.

Eventually we had to figure out another way to entertain him. Anyone up for a game of "Where's David?"

On Sunday we went to White Oak in Baton Rouge where the wedding will take place. We had a great time tasting all the yummy food and sampling cake. David really liked the pastry shells and the cake (but mostly the icing).

David and I had such a great time in New Orleans. He did great on the plane both ways, which was a relief because this was the first time we flew just the two of us. We can't wait to come back for the wedding!

Daddy's Birthday

This year Ryan turned the big "30" and of course we had to celebrate with steak! Aunt Courtney drove up and we all hung out. David had fun practicing walking with Grammie and he even got his first lesson in grilling steaks!

Valentine's Day

We had a nice, lazy day for Valentine's this year. David let us sleep in.....which is usually about 7:30 AM at the latest! Grammie and Grampa came over and we went to lunch and then came home and played. David showed off how he loves to walk with his gift from Mrs. Peggy! It was a fun, low-key day. Next year we might try to be festive and wear red (not pink!)
