Things Mommy Forgot To Take Pictures Of
On February 2, David went to his first play. Mindi's school was putting on "Seussical the Musical" and she had several students with lead parts. So we decided to take David to the play.
Mindi and David stopped at home to change clothes/diaper and pick up David's dinner. She should have gone home before she picked David up! Around this time David had taken to flinging himself forward in order to get places or when he didn't get his way. Mommy wasn't thinking of this when she set David on her big bed so she could change clothes. I'm sure you can see this coming. David did his own impersonation of Superman (minus the cape). Needless to say it wasn't a pretty landing. Although he didn't get hurt, he did cry for about 10 minutes. Glad there's no picture proof of that!
Once we got to the play David did fantastic. He loved the music and the bright colors of the set and the costumes. He clapped with the audience and even sang along with the cast a time or two. He also flirted with the lady behind us (who happened to be the parent of one of Mindi's students). After the play was over David gave the Cat in the Hat (Drew from 5th period) a high five. It was really a low five, but it was still cute. David did so good, we'll see if next years musical goes as well.
On February 8th David went to a birthday party for our friend Will Hale (he turned one). David got to play with Will, Gracelynn, and some other kids whose names we can't remember. Will loved eating his birthday cake and opening presents. Hopefully David will have as much fun at his 1st birthday.

David's First Rodeo
I think it's a goat, but it could be a sheep
Next year we will have to try the petting zoo. David did great during the Grand Entry. He clapped for the horses and riders as they went past and he flirted with the people sitting around us. When the band plays the Star Spangled Banner we know that they will have pyrotechnics explode and we were worried that David would get upset with the explosions. They didn't phase him at all - what a trooper!
Snow Day
David wasn't too sure about the ride/push toy from Mrs. Peggy.
It's got parts to play with!
Mrs. Robin bought David his first tractor.
Who thinks my tractor's sexy?
We had a good time staying home and spending the day together. Now I see why my students get so excited about snow days!
Riding the Towncar
Gotta work on those driving skills!
Jay, Tamra & Jesse Visit
Saturday we hung out at Grammie and Grampa's and then we went to lunch at Babe's in Burleson. David loved it. He ate biscuits, mashed potatoes, and smoked chicken. And all that was AFTER he ate his lunch! What a piggy! Silly mommy didn't take any pictures at Babe's (or the rest of the weekend). Gotta work on that.

Going to Granny's
Our new cousin Mallory. Isn't she a cutie!
Nana brought David a surprise....Mardi Gras!
What's in the corner? Is that David's very own King Cake? Why, yes it is!
Yummy!
Climbing on Papaw (Mick, Mason, and David)
Jeremy and Janet came up with an art project present for Granny. They got a tile and had all the great grandkids put their painted handprint and footprint on it to make a garden. They were just waiting on David. So here he is adding to the artwork.
The finished product.
David was introduced to the Dowdy tradition of "swinging". He started out in a blanket, and loved it! As he gets older I'm sure he will follow in the footsteps of his mom and aunts; he'll lay on the floor and raise his arms and legs in the air (this is the international gesture for "swing me").
Walking in the leaves
Mindi saw a picture of a little boy wearing overalls and hanging from a clothesline. She thought it would be cute to do her own version on Granny's clothesline. Not anything like the picture she saw, but it's cute!
Bumps and Bruises
One day, David was crawling so fast that he lost control and ran into a toy truck. The teachers were great and gave him ice and hugs to help him get over his "injury". They filled out an official accident report that I had to sign when I picked him up. Here's another "first" for the scrapbook.
If you look real close you can see a faint line over his right eye.
The next day he got tooth #2 (bottom center). He doesn't like to show it off so no pictures. Sorry!
